Fire Truck Electrical installer

Position Title: Fire Truck Electrical Installer

Work Schedule: 7:00am – 3:30pm, Monday – Friday

JOB SUMMARY

Install electrical components and wiring fittings such as instrument controls panels, lights, sirens, radios, etc. for emergency fire trucks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Pre-wire fire truck (body and sub frame).
  • Install electrical wiring for fire truck cabs, pumps, and ladders.
  • Install electrical wiring for hydraulic compartments & compartment doors.
  • Perform electrical testing and inspections (all wiring and connections).
  • Operate all electrical functions during pre-pump testing and final pump testing of vehicle.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience in vehicle electrical installations.
  • Understand 12VDC and 120/240 VAC electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and understand assembly drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Experience in safely operating power tools (drills, saws, grinders, etc.)
  • Experience in mechanical and electrical trouble shooting.
  • Experience in mounting and installing accessories.
  • Ability to investigate and diagnose electrical problems reported on assembled vehicles.
  • Excellent communication skills with excellent work ethic.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to work with little to no supervision.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Prioritize and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
  • Adaptable to a changing work environment and the ability to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Occasional kneeling, crouching, reaching with hands and arms, balance talk and hear.
  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs.
  • Exposure to various temperatures. Heat levels on occasion can be more than moderate during the summer months.
